Everyone knows how important oral health is but did you know that some of the added ingredients in toothpaste can be harmful if ingested too frequently, especially for children? Or have you ever just ran out and need something quick to throw together but still want it to be effective? Now, I admit I don’t always have time to make my own toothpaste and when I’m out and just need it, my favorite on the market toothpaste is Arm and Hammer Whitening toothpaste. However, when I have the time I can make a similar if not better toothpaste myself. Most of the time I already have the ingredients around my house and you might too.
Here’s what you do, add the above listed ingredients in a sterile jar and mix, Put a tightly secured lid on it to store for daily use. When you are ready put the same amount of toothpaste on a natural bamboo toothbrush and go at it. Your teeth will feel clean and fresh and the flavor is up to you. Make it a little more kid friendly by adding flavors like sweet orange or cinnamon just to name a few.
Active Ingredients List:
Pearl Powder- for its many health benefits but mostly as a whitening agent. Because it is ground to a very fine powder it has enough texture to remove surface stains off the teeth while being very gentle so it will not harm your teeth enamel. The magnesium and calcium in the pearl powder help promote healthy strong bones and teeth.
Pearl Powder penetrates tooth structure and oxidizes colored compounds in the dentin. It can remove tea, coffee, wine, and tobacco stains, pigment, plaque, helps reduce oral diseases and enhances oral hygiene. This powder will whiten your teeth naturally. With long time use you can enjoy these benefits
- Whitens Enamel & Restores Color
- Eliminates Stains & Discoloration
- Improves Oral Overall health
- Helps prevent receding gums & gum disease
- No Chemical Sensitivity
Baking Soda- for it’s alkaline nature of baking soda neutralizes the pH of the oral cavity. As well as its capability to scrub surface stains.
Coconut oil- for it’s natural antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal properties. It fights the fungal infection caused by Candida albicans. It also protects the teeth against cavities. Try using coconut oil for oil pulling. It helps restore cavities and truly works. Although I recommend still seeing your dentist on a regular basis to keep up with good dental health.
Essential oils- for it’s flavor and depending on the oil chosen may have extra added benefits as well. Who doesn’t love essential oils.
**I used this toothpaste and my mouth and teeth felt very clean. Go easy on the peppermint oil as it can burn your mouth.
**Baking soda already has a very salty taste so if you choose to add salt as well (Like the other recipe call for) then be prepared.
